Travel slowly. See more.

We’re Mairin and Todd, a midlife couple who has lived abroad for ten years. We help fellow midlife travelers swap the rush for slow, intentional trips built around food, culture, and the moments you only find when you stay a while.

Meet Mairin & Todd

Two people, one slow life abroad

We left the US in 2016 with two backpacks and a vague plan. Ten years later, we’ve house-sat in eight countries, learned to cook in a few of them, and still don’t keep a fixed address.

We’re not experts and we don’t pretend to be. We’re two midlife travelers who found a way to see the world slowly, and we’re happy to show you how.

Our kind of travel

You won't see everything. That's the point.

Slow travel is about staying longer, digging deeper, and letting a place become familiar.

After ten years of living outside the US, we’ve learned that our favorite trips are the unhurried ones. We wander neighborhoods with no plan, linger over long lunches, and learn a little of the language and a lot of the history.

We write for travelers in the second half of life who want depth over speed and meaning over miles. What you get here is plain guides and stories from two people still figuring it out as they go.

How we travel

Four things we believe

The ideas behind every trip we take and every guide we write. Tap one to go deeper.

Slow

Stay longer, plan less, and let a place become familiar.

Intentional

We pick fewer places and dig deeper. You can't go, go, go and call it travel.

Food & Culture

We get to know a place through its markets, its meals, and its history.

Respect the Place

We travel lightly, learn the customs, and try to leave it better.

Where we wander

Places worth slowing down for

A few of the corners of the world we keep coming back to.

Where We Housesit

Spain & the Mediterranean

Where we spend our summers housesitting. Whitewashed villages, late dinners, and the slow rhythm of the south.

Where It Began

Southeast Asia

Where our nomadic life started. Rice terraces, street food, and temples worth the early start.

Underrated

Europe & the Balkans

From Bulgarian wine country to medieval towns with no tour buses in them. We go where the crowds don’t.

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
